Need to Get: New Kitty Litter Box
The 6 kitties at home have been sharing 1 kitty litterbox for as long as they can remember and its high time they get one more. Mikan is having bladder infection again and I wonder if it is because he holds his pee till I get home to clean the litterbox at the end of the day. Not to forget the few nights when I crashed into bed almost immediately following a long day at work, failing to clean out the litter till the next morning.
I have just placed an order for a new litter box, following the recommendation of a good friend who gave it 2 thumbs up. Problem One, however, is that it comes without a lid and Shishi & QQ are such shovellers in the litterbox - just imagine litter flying out of the box and across half the room. Problem Two is that there is really not much space left in the room to accomodate yet another fixture.

i dont think you need to worry about the shovelling. the box is very high and the litter not too crumbly.

Wah..the litter box is very good looking and deep too. Prob best not to have a lid for the box cos it would trap all the smells. Maybe that is one reason why the kitties don't like using the box. My 2 litterboxes have no lids. The amigos can turn around in them easily and of course I have to clean it often as I see the waste every time I go into the loo. Since I have to clean it everyday there is no smell.

See if you can get the jumbo Europet litter box + cover. Less than $30 each and easy to clean. Big enough. I have 3 of these litter boxes at home for the gang.

Hey ksn, you're right! I didn't have to worry much about the shovelling. The floor was pretty clean when I got home today but my worry is that the 2 shovellers haven’t done their business yet... U using PeeWee too?
San, I used to clean out the bins all the time but now it’s only 2 times a day… opps. So do you just flush the waste down the toilet? That’s a pretty neat idea! *must write down* And yea, with the lid on, the smell gets trapped and it puts them off I suspect. I just hope that the 2 girls dun dig so hard from now on!
kxbc, is the Europet brand available at most petshops? As my kids are only allowed in my room right now, I will not be able to get any more new ones till we have our own place. But big ones are good! I’ll keep that one in mind and check it out one of these days. Thanks for the info! :D

Hmmm I have never seen the Europet in any petshop. No I don't flush the litter in the loo cos if it clogs, I will die for sure. I just put the waste in plastic and dispose of them immediately. A lot of work lah but if not Bujang will give me a piece of his mind and then he will go to the other one in the kitchen. this is to remind me to do my duty..hahaha as he hardly veer uses the one in the kitchen. Only Akira uses it. I think without the lid, the kitties won't be overwhelmed by the smell.

aunty p, i was using peewee but gave up as the bottom tray that collects the broken down pine (dunno what else to call this!) fill up very fast. I have 6 cats you see...
as my brood was already using pinnacle pine before switching to pee wee, didnt take long for them to switch. good thing about pee wee is you really dont need to put a lot of the pellets!
now i am using normal litterbox with pee wee pine. i find that pee wee is one of the few brands that dont track, and the pellets are big. so litterbox yield is high.

San, I thought that since the pine disintegrates with moisture, it'll be able to go down the loo. Is still figuring out ways to ease the cleaning work. :P Yea, now I'm using plastic bags as well, but I feel like environmentally-unfriendly leh.
So Bujang has taken up the responsibilty of toilet patrol huh? How cute! You have 2 bins for your 3 amigos and they still complain, now I feel so guility for making my 6 share 1 for so long! :P
ksn, I think only 1 of my kids uses the PeeWee cause the bottom tray doesn't fill up much at the end of the day. In fact, most of the time it was just a puddle of pee with a bit of broken down pine in it. And yep, I agree that the PW is much more economical. :D Now the kids still patronise the other Petmate one more, 'business' so much better there! Heehee. And definitely much cleaner like you said. *thumbs up!*

I bought another Europet litter box last week. Biggest size they have for $36 before discount. I think they give 10% discount or so.
You can call this number. They do delivery for purchases above $50. I always get them to deliver heavy litter or big packets of cat food for me. I find their prices quite competitive.
