The Kitty Room

The cats' dad and I have been kept busy by the renovation of our new place and the running around to coordinate and purchase all the stuff we need. The experience - with the reno workers and gasp, with each other - is leaving us exhausted physically and emotionally. But I'm also glad to say that now, a month into our renovation, we are closer than ever, learning to manage each other's expectations and demands, and amazingly, calming down to finish whatever shopping we needed to do despite still being angry with each other just a minute ago.

To top it off, we can now boast to be quite confident in nagivating through the streets of Little India and Jln Besar after our repeated visits there to hunt for that desired piece of porcelain or lighting. And oh, we won't be forgetting the yummy Char Kuay Teow and Hokkkien Mee at Hindoo Street anytime too soon. :)

Well, despite the latest disappointment in the botched plumbing works, the house is starting to look like what we had envisaged it to be - a laid-back haven where we can escape to at the end of everyday's humdrum. We are expecting to move in sometime in September and their dad has been reminding me to pick out the least territorial one amongst our brood. He reasoned that if the least territorial one is to move in first, then the place won't end up belonging to just one alpha cat with the others tip-toeing around him or her.

But to pick the least territorial? That's a toughie. Each has his or her possessive streak in one way or another. Shishi and Cutie over food, Mikan and Becks over me, Princey over brushing and play. And Maggie, well, he is ready to retaliate should anyone ever attempt to wound his pride. And I haven't even figured out who is marking on the bed everytime they find their loo too icky to use. Geez.

Good thing I still have sometime to think the moving sequence through.

Anyhow, the kitty room has received its first asset, courtesy of a fruitful visit to the Besar shops last Saturday. It is a really cute yet simplistic wall lamp moulded out of plaster, showing the back of 2 kitties sitting on a ledge and watching the sunset together. Or at least, so it seems when the light is switched on. It was such a delightful find and what made it more endearing was that their dad liked it just as equally. Nothing beats finding a piece of your home together - with no persuasion or tantrums necessary.

Pics and more posts soon.

  • Hiya Fel, the lamps will be delivered tomorrow. I can hardly wait myself! Will remind self to bring camera to take some shots.

The holes in the pocket will mend, but the experience is priceless. :D

  • But there also holes in my wallet... that will take a while to mend. =P

Though I must admit the journey is packed with excitment and joy (esp after making purchases), I can deny im oso checking my bank accounr more frequently as compared previously.

Just cross fingers things will go smooth and steady.

  • Fel... dont have doggie ones. Have a double heart shaped one and a swan one. Which IMO are very 'obiang'... but a couple who were at the shop with us chose the swan one.

They have plain ones without any figures. Maybe u can get this and put you 3 monsters pic there!

  • Yea Fel, no doggie ones. The plain one comes with just the frame.

Well, a picture might suffice, else pick up clay moulding and create your own model! Or simply display your favourite figurine on it. Heh.

Interestingly, the frame can be painted over to suit the colour of your wall. :)

Fel, we hope that friends and family can come over often to enjoy our home. I'm thinking home spa and afternoon tea. You thinking what I'm thinking? Hee.

Hmm babe, me picking up clay moulding??? Well... it's ok, i think i will give the plain lamp a miss.. But honestly, the kitties one is a good pick!

And oh yah, i hpe u r thinkin wat im thinkin too! I want jacuzzi too! Hehehe... The last thing you want is, I gate-crash and turn up at ur place every sat noon with my bath towel and all the spa essentials with me! Hahahaha..

  • Jascuzzi (Dang PCK Pte Ltd, I always have the compulsion to pronounce it his way ever since I heard him pronounce it so on TV. Heh.) is out of the league! Pricey and ah, put where? :P

I'll be very happy if I can get a Japanese soaking tub in our master en suite, but that won't come till much later. I just hope that I won't have to wait till we are all arthritic before we get to enjoy in one. Not to forget we'd be too wrinkly to look anywhere near nice by then. Hmm. Shar Peis might be kinder for our poor husbands' heart.

For now, gimme a small wooden basin infused with aroma oils and floating rose petals, body scrub in a relaxing scent, flickering tea lights and spa music in the background and you'll get yourself a very happy woman! :D

  • Wow.. all the talk about spa and body scrub make me wanna do grooming later!!! Hahahaha...

  • Ah Dear.... previously we saw some Jap tub nice nice only for $1K asked you want or not but you don't want. Now that Im building a shower screen in our master en suite it's going to be difficult to fix the tub even if we want to. =S

  • Issit! I was under the impression that we didn't want to get it yet.

In that case, when we do get a tub, it shall go into the ... *drumroll* ... bedroom balcony!

Long, lazy baths under the sun and the moon. Imagine that! :P
