It is really interesting how the kids managed to work out who sits where during meal time. Position 1 has belonged to Cutie since time immemorial. That place is the prime estate, the numero uno, the place that the sacred plate gets laid down first every single time and no one else had the audacity to ever eat there. Positions 2 and 3 get fed next and those belonged to Becksie and Shishi. The three boys had always waited out their turns at positions 4, 5 and 6 on the bed without fail.
Then one day some weeks ago, Princey had a realisation. Though he might have always been the first boy to be fed, but disturbingly, he was not the first cat to be fed. As he watched me dished out the rations that evening, he recalled the sayings of a great man who told him to be the change that he wanted to see in the world. Princey knew his siblings well, and no cat in his right frame of mind would try to negotiate with Cutie, so he figured that Becks and Shishi would be the more sensible ones to persuade. 2 or 3 was better than 4 anytime.
As proven by this picture taken some days later, Princey had succesfully nudged Shishi from her position 3 to an errant place on the shelf behind Cutie (whose nuttiness prevented her from savouring her meal that evening, claiming that the ominous presense of an intruder unsettled her).
Today, Princey is victorious in being the change he wanted to see. He had successfully acquired position 2 from Becks, and equilibrium had shifted Shishi back into position 3. Mikan and Maggie continued to wait contentedly on the bed.
It's just truly amazing how Princey observed a disadvantage, pondered his options, decided on a plan, acted on it and eventually got what he wanted. For all we know, he might just start talking next. :)
